Day 1 Shanghai to Suzhou by Bullet Train

In the morning, you will take the bullet train from Shanghai to Suzhou, it takes only 30 minutes for one way. Upon arrival, our local Suzhou tour guide will pick you up at the exit of the train station, you will find a welcome signage “Suzhou Private Tour”. And start your Suzhou honeymoon tour.

Your first destination is Lingering Garden. Lingering Garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city's finest classical gardens. It has been listed as one of the four most famous national classic gardens together with the humble administrator's garden, the Summer Palace and Mountain Summer Resort in Chengde are called China's four largest gardens. Landscape architectural space processing is very exquisite, using a variety of artistic techniques, built a unique space system, becoming one of the world civilization examples of architectural space art processing. Wander through the trails and portals of this delicately-planned garden that carefully combines traditional Chinese architecture with natural beauty. A good place to let your mind and body rest.

Next to Ouyuan Garden (also named Couple’s Retreat Garden), Ouyuan Garden is one of famous classical Chinese garden in Suzhou. This garden despite its narrow width features the most beautiful scenic spots and is laid out appropriately. The principal structure is a hall with double-eave roofs and faces the south, which is rare in the design of the garden of Suzhou. The major scenic spot of the entire garden is the Yellowstone Rockery built in the front of the Chengqu Thatched Cottage. The stones of the rockery are the same in size, and the technique of piling rockery is realistic and natural.

In the afternoon, continue your tour to Panmen Gate. It is a famous historical landmark in Suzhou. When Suzhou was the capital of the Wu Kingdom, it was the only entrance through the wall to ancient Suzhou. The architecture of the wall is truly amazing and also known in China for its architecture complex of both land and water city gates. Therefore it is also often called the "Land and Water Gate". On the top of the gate, you can see the Wumen Gate Bridge and the Auspicious Light Pagoda, which are popularly known as the Three Scenes at Panmen Gate together with Panmen Gate. The Auspicious Light Pagoda is the oldest Buddhist pagoda in the area, on the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the picturesque Yangtze River Delta.

The last stop is Suzhou No.1 Silk Factory, it has a long and rich history of silk culture, including mulberry tree and silk worm cultivation and turning raw silk into beautiful fabric. Suzhou's climate and soil are perfect for silk production, and the city has been a center of China's silk trade for many centuries. The Suzhou No. 1 Silk Mill has been a proud steward of this heritage for over 80 years. It's more like a museum which shows you how the silk is made from cocoons from the beginning and the whole silk process. Not to be missed.

Day 2 Suzhou and Tongli Water Town

After breakfast, you will start your tour with Tiger Hill, which is also famous as Surging Sea Hill because of its natural beauty. The Tiger Hill extends over an area of 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres) and is 36 meters (118 feet) in height. Though small in size, Tiger Hill is provided with a great many gorgeous scenes, historical sites, numerous towering ancient trees, and a Tiger Hill Pagoda on the top of the hill. You will find lots of historical sites some of which can be traced back over 2500 years to the founding of Suzhou. 

The Tiger Hill has been known as No. 1 Sight of Suzhou. It is a must for tourists. The great Song literary man Su Dongpo said, "It would be a pity if you had been to Suzhou but didn't get to visit the Tiger Hill." As a showcase of Suzhou and one of the first ten exemplary civilized tourist attractions of China.

Drive you to Tongli Water Town, one of the many ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, which is famous for their rivers, ancient bridges and house complexes. Tongli occupies an area of 51 square miles (133 square kilometers) with a population of 55,000. The city is separated by 15 rivers into seven islets, which are connected through 49 ancient bridges.The most famous bridges among the 49 bridges in Tongli are the three bridges called Taiping (peace), Jili (luck) and Changqing (celebration) bridges, which has been important landmarks of the place and regarded as the sacred architecture by the locals. 

Tongli is located a short drive from Suzhou and about an hour drive outside of Shanghai. Tongli Water Town deserves its name of a “museum of ancient architectures” as there are many homes and temples dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Designed along the riverside and embellished with carved windows, porcelain furniture, figured clay bricks, flying eaves, dapper gardens and tiny stairs leading all the way down to the water, these complexes named Tongli Water Town could be a shining pearl among the water townships south of Yangtze.

After the visit of Tongli Water Town, drive you to your hotel in Suzhou or Suzhou train station and your tour ends.
