  • Accommodation: N/A
  • Meal: Our local guide will recommend popular local restaurants based on real-time traffic and your preferences, letting you enjoy authentic local cuisine away from touristy restaurants.

The first stop of this trip is Wukang Road. Wukang Road is a famous historical and cultural street in Shanghai. It is renowned not only for its elegant old buildings but also for its architectural style that blends Western and Chinese elements, attracting numerous tourists and history enthusiasts. The architectural styles here are diverse, featuring many European and modern buildings, reflecting the early historical style of Shanghai. As one of the most historically rich streets in Shanghai, Wukang Road exudes a strong cultural atmosphere. One of its highlights is the Wukang Mansion, a typical example of early 20th-century architecture. This building is distinguished by its unique green tiled roof and streamlined appearance, making it one of the architectural gems of Shanghai. Along the street, there are also many cafes, restaurants, and exquisite boutiques, making it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll. The atmosphere here is peaceful and comfortable, making it an ideal place to explore Shanghai's historical and cultural heritage.

After visiting Wukang Road, we will head to Jing'an Temple. Jing'an Temple, located in the heart of Shanghai, is not only one of the city's most famous Buddhist temples but also a peaceful sanctuary amidst the urban hustle and bustle. Originally built in 247 AD, the temple has a rich history that spans over a millennium, and it stands as a symbol of the city’s deep spiritual heritage. The temple complex is an architectural masterpiece, with stunning details that reflect traditional Chinese Buddhist design—graceful flying eaves, ornate golden roofs, and intricate carvings that adorn the walls and pillars. Inside, visitors are greeted by a collection of sacred statues, including the towering bronze statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which stands at an impressive height of 3.8 meters. The Mahavira Hall, the temple’s main hall, houses several finely crafted statues that radiate serenity and spirituality. Apart from its religious significance, the temple also features a beautiful garden, providing a tranquil space for reflection, meditation, and relaxation. The temple is a popular destination for both locals and tourists who come to pray for blessings, light incense, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Jing'an Temple is not only a place of worship but also an oasis of calm, offering visitors a spiritual escape from the busy modern life of Shanghai.

After that, your tour guide will take you to a local restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of Shanghai’s culinary delights. If you're eager to experience some authentic local dishes, I highly recommend trying Hong Shao Rou (Shanghai Red-Braised Pork) and You Bao Xia (Stir-Fried Shrimp). Hong Shao Rou is a signature Shanghai dish that showcases the perfect balance of sweetness and savory flavors. The pork belly is slowly braised in a rich mixture of soy sauce, sugar, cooking wine, and other seasonings, resulting in a deep red color and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Despite the dish's richness, it is never greasy, making it a comfort food for many locals. The flavors are subtle yet layered, and it's often served as a family-style dish, making it perfect for sharing. You Bao Xia, or Stir-Fried Shrimp, is a must-try for seafood lovers. The shrimp are cooked to perfection—tender and juicy—then stir-fried with a special sauce that brings out the natural sweetness of the shrimp. The dish has a fragrant aroma and a savory kick, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy bold flavors. Paired with steamed rice, these two dishes offer a true taste of Shanghai’s rich culinary heritage. Both dishes are highly regarded in local cuisine and will surely make your dining experience unforgettable.

Next, let's head to the Shanghai Museum and explore it together! The Shanghai Museum is one of the most important museums in China. Its collection is incredibly rich, covering a wide range of artworks from prehistory to modern times. Particularly noteworthy are its exhibits of ceramics, calligraphy, and paintings, all of which are world-class treasures. For example, the bronze artifacts on display represent the pinnacle of ancient Chinese civilization and are of immense historical and artistic value. The museum features several thematic galleries, showcasing key cultural heritages such as ancient Chinese bronze culture, ceramics, calligraphy, painting, and jade artifacts. Each exhibit represents the long history and unique artistic style of China, demonstrating the inheritance and development of Chinese culture over thousands of years. The Shanghai Museum not only allows visitors to learn about China’s thousands of years of history and culture, but also offers a hands-on experience with its vast array of artworks and cultural relics. Whether you are a history enthusiast or an art appreciator, the Shanghai Museum will leave you with a profound cultural impression.

Then, we venture into the artistic haven of Tianzifang, located within the heart of the French Concession. This once bustling residential area for working-class families has since transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, attracting artists, designers, and creatives from all over the world. Tianzifang retains its old-world charm, with winding narrow alleys and traditional Shikumen houses, while embracing a modern, artistic vibe. As you stroll through the labyrinth of lanes, you’ll encounter local artisans at work, contemporary art galleries, and unique boutique stores, each offering a taste of Shanghai’s dynamic artistic scene. Your guide will share the fascinating story of Tianzifang’s transformation, from its humble origins to its current status as a symbol of the city's innovative spirit. This neighborhood beautifully encapsulates the fusion of history and modern creativity, making it an inspiring destination for those interested in Shanghai’s evolving cultural landscape.

Yu Garden & Bazaar is the first place we will visit today, situated in the heart of the city’s historic Old City. Originally constructed in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty, Yu Garden is a tranquil oasis offering an enchanting escape from the urban buzz. Its winding pathways, lush greenery, and serene ponds invite visitors to relax and reflect, providing a perfect blend of natural beauty and architectural craftsmanship. City God Temple is located near Yuyuan Garden. The City God Temple is one of Shanghai's most historically and culturally significant landmarks, located in the city's center in Huangpu District. It was originally built during the Ming Dynasty to honor the City God, and has a history spanning several hundred years. As a representative of Shanghai's traditional religion and culture, the City God Temple is not only a place for people to pray and pay respects but also carries a rich history and folklore. The temple was originally established to protect the city's residents from disasters, with the City God believed to safeguard the city and ensure the safety and happiness of its people. The statue of the City God enshrined in the temple is solemn and dignified, attracting numerous worshippers each year. The architecture of the City God Temple is elegant, featuring traditional Jiangnan-style temple characteristics. Its roof has upward-curved eaves, and the walls are adorned with intricate carvings of patterns and mythological stories. After visiting the two attractions, it’s time for lunch. The tour guide will take you to a restaurant where you can freely choose the dishes you'd like to try. If you want to taste some of Shanghai’s local specialties, you might want to try Crab Roe Bao and Scallion Oil Noodles. Crab Roe Bao is a traditional snack with a strong local flavor. It combines the essence of Shanghai's Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) with the rich crab roe from the seasonal hairy crabs, making it a delicious and creative dish. When eating Crab Roe Bao, it is usually paired with some ginger slices and vinegar for added flavor. Since the bao contains a lot of broth, be careful not to burn your mouth when you bite into it. Scallion Oil Noodles is a classic Shanghai dish. The noodles are boiled, then mixed with fragrant scallion oil and soy sauce, creating a simple but delicious taste. The rich aroma of the scallions is incredibly flavorful, and the dish is simple yet leaves a lasting impression.

Located on the west bank of the Huangpu River, facing the Pudong New Area, the Bund serves as a concentrated display of Shanghai's culture, history, and architecture. Due to its unique historical background, the architectural style of the Bund features typical European influences, earning it the title of the "Gallery of World Architecture." Today, the Bund remains one of the symbols of Shanghai's historical and cultural heritage. The night view of the Bund is one of Shanghai's iconic landscapes. One of the most famous features of the Bund is its river view. Standing on the Bund, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Huangpu River. From here, you can see the modern Lujiazui financial district, with towering buildings such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Tower standing majestically. The modern skyscrapers of Pudong and the historical buildings of the Bund create a striking contrast, showcasing both Shanghai's past and future.
