New Yanjiang rail link works set to start

Construction of the Yanjiang high-speed railway connecting Nanjing and Shanghai will start this year. It will provide smoother transport links for port city residents in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta region.

The Yanjiang project will provide the second intercity railway link between Shanghai and Nanjing along the Yangtze River.

It will start from Nanjing North Railway Station, run through Jiangning District of Nanjing, Jurong, Jintan and Wujin districts, Jiangyin, and Zhangjiagang, and connect to Shanghai-Nantong Railway in Taicang.

Construction will start with the Jintan District section that will stretch a total 5.509 kilometers and have a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
