Metro links close time gaps between towns and cities

Residents can now enjoy the shortest commuting time ever to travel between Kunshan and Shanghai thanks to the opening of Shanghai Metro Line 11.

Each day, Kunshan resident Wang Xiaoyou now takes only one-and-a-half hours to get to his office in Pudong New Area.

Shanghai Metro Line 11 traverses 82.4 kilometers, is the region's first inter-province Metro line and the longest in the world. The Metro line connecting Anting Town in Shanghai and Huaqiao in Kunshan City promotes trade and talent exchange between the two cities.

Currently, it costs only 10 yuan (US$1.53) to travel between Kunshan and Shanghai Disney Park on Shanghai Metro Line 11. This offers Kunshan residents a good opportunity for a range of weekend trips.

In the future, Suzhou Metro Line S1 will connect with Suzhou Metro Line 3 and Shanghai Metro Line 11 at Huaqiao, narrowing the travel distances between Kunshan, Suzhou and Shanghai.
